Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has refused to comment on any transfer rumours associated with the club until the FA Cup final is out of the way.

The Gunners have been linked with a large pool of names in recent weeks, but Wenger, speaking to, wants to prevent distraction from what is currently his side's priority.

He said: "At the moment we are not in transfer mode, we just want to finish the season.

Focus on the final

"We have put in so much effort it would be stupid not to finish the job. The transfer period comes after the FA Cup final."

Arsenal host Sunderland tonight at the Emirates in their penultimate game of the season, before their final league game at home to West Brom on Sunday and the FA Cup final against Aston Villa the following Saturday.

Slowly but surely

To retain their FA Cup crown would be an impressive achievement in itself given their previous drought of nine years without a trophy, but to couple the title with a third place finish in the Premier League would pose as a significant step forward for the north London outfit.

And Wenger has placed importance on their final two league games as a way of getting back to winning ways and building confidence before their big day on May 30.

"The Swansea game was an accident because we deserved to win the game. It's very important for us to go into the FA Cup final with confidence and in the winning mode."
