Former Chelsea defender Marcel Desailly has insisted that the Blues must sign another world-class striker this summer if they're going to challenge for Champions League silverware next term.
As reported by Goal.com, Desailly has suggested that boss Jose Mourinho should make movements for either of Edinson Cavani or Gonzalo Higuain in the upcoming transfer window.
Mourinho, of course, already has the trio of Diego Costa, Loic Remy and Dider Drogba at his disposal, but the latter is approaching the final stages of his career, so it certainly wouldn't come as a surprise if the club invested in their front line sooner rather than later.

Despite securing the Premier League title with ease in this campaign, Mourinho and Co. failed to make a real impact on the European scene after suffering defeat against French outfit PSG in the Round of 16 in the Champions League.
"Chelsea needs another striker," claimed Desailly. "Costa has done well, Drogba also, but they need a third top player - a Cavani, a Higuain, someone very close to Costa [in ability] to be able to think about winning a Champions League.

"In other areas I don’t see anything unless a player leaves."
It's far from certain, however, as to whether the club's hierarchy will swoop for either of Cavani or Higuain, but both players would no doubt make fine signings for the club as they go about improving ahead of the 2015/16 campaign.
One thing's for sure, it looks set to be a busy summer at Stamford Bridge, and it should prove extremely exciting.
One is needed
Ultimately, you can't really argue with Desailly. Chelsea have been brilliant at times this season, but they're still in need of improvement up top despite last summer's major overhaul.
Of course, Mourinho completely swapped his entire strike force this past summer as the trio of Demba Ba, Fernando Torres and Samuel Eto'o left the club, whilst Drogba, Costa and Loic Remy arrived.
Remy, despite a lack of opportunities this season, will no doubt improve under the guidance of Mourinho next term, while the club will be hoping Costa stays injury free. But if the Spaniard continues to struggle on the injury scene, then it's crucial another big name arrives.
It's far from certain as to whether moves for either of Higuain or Cavani are even possible, but they'd certainly improve the club in the attacking department. At the end of the day, both strikers are proven at the highest level and would add another dimension to the club when on the attack.
We're all expecting Mourinho and Co. to splash the cash on one big name in the upcoming window, so perhaps the Portuguese tactician should listen to the club's former defender.
