New England Patriots have had a busy off-season to say the least. After winning an historic fourth Super Bowl title in February, the deflategate saga has managed to end the Patriots' title-winning honeymoon early.
Tom Brady has been at the center of the deflategate saga from the very beginning. Following the Pats' AFC Championship Game win over Indianapolis, Brady was accused of ordering staff to deflate balls to gain a competitive edge.
Following an investigation by the NFL, Brady was suspended for four games by the league, after they concluded that the star quarterback was "generally aware" of the tampering.
No love for Brady
Proceeding the suspension for Brady, it seems that everybody in the NFL has had their say on the outcome, with most experts believing that Brady received a fair punishment.
The latest to take a shot at Brady is surprisingly one of his former teammates from last year's Super Bowl winning team, Darrelle Revis.
Of course Revis is now playing for one of the Patriots' arch-rivals, New York Jets, but nonetheless one would have thought Revis might have been easier on Brady.
But no, Revis is in full Jets mode now, and claimed that the quarterback deserves the punishment. The corner even said the Patriots deserve their punishment because the organisation has been riddled by cheating in the past.
"Everybody's blowing it up because it is Tom Brady," Revis told the New York Daily News Wednesday in his first extended comments on the deflategate saga.
"I understand that. But if (the NFL) feels he did the crime or he did something and they want to penalize them, then that's that. (The Patriots) have a history of doing stuff. You can't hide that. Tom was there when they did that stuff in the past."
Will he regret this?
For Revis to make these comments is very surprising. There is no doubt that the comments are valid and well made, but having only just played for New England you would have thought that he would have spared Brady further shame.
