Louis van Gaal expects David de Gea to reject the advances of Real Madrid and stay at Manchester United this summer.
The Spanish goalkeeper has been offered a £200,000-a-week long-term contract at Old Trafford, but has refused to sign it thus far.
Money is not the issue, but Real Madrid's interest is. The La Liga club are looking for a replacement for Iker Casillas and want De Gea to sign this summer.
With just one-year left on his contract, Real Madrid know they can sign the 24-year-old for below his true market value.
With just 12 months remaining on his current deal there is also a chance that De Gea could leave for free next summer.
“But I still believe David will stay"
However, Manchester Untied manager Van Gaal believes the goalkeeper is likely to remain at Old Trafford next season.
Asked if Victor Valdes would become his first choice if De Gea leaves, Van Gaal told reporters: “First we have to see if David De Gea is leaving, then we shall talk about other things.
“But I still believe David will stay. And I want to play him against Hull, because I want to play my strongest team. And I think my strongest team must include David.”
"He has trained today but only with our goalkeeper trainer. He still has a little problem so I want to wait a day longer because I want him to play against Hull City"
Played his last game?
Should De Gea leave in the summer then it is likely he has played his last game for the Red Devils.
The goalkeeper suffered a hamstring injury in the 1-1 draw with Arsenal and was swapped for Valdes in the second half.
Van Gaal revealed De Gea trained alone today but is remains a doubt for Manchester United's last game against Hull City.
He said: "He has trained today but only with our goalkeeper trainer. He still has a little problem so I want to wait a day longer because I want him to play against Hull City. Rooney is available. He is the captain so I can say he shall play."
