Manchester United are closing in on Argentine international Nicolas Gaitan, according to the Mirror.
The report, citing claims from the Portuguese television channel CM TV, reveals that the midfield star's agent Jorge Mendes and Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira are in London to discuss a summer move with Red Devils chiefs.
It appears, then, that the 27-year-old, who has a buyout clause of £24.9 million in his current contract, could be on his way to Old Trafford sooner rather than later, whilst the same report claims that the club's English rivals Chelsea are interested in the player's signature.
In fact, the same report from the Mirror goes on to reveal that Portuguese sports daily Record believes the player will play his final game for the club this weekend before completing a move to the Theatre of Dreams.
It remains to be seen, then, as to whether the Manchester United hierarchy manage to come to an agreement over the player in the near future.
One thing's for sure, with the Premier League season approaching its end, big changes are expected at Old Trafford.
If Gaitan arrives, then surely a number of players will have to move on in the near future. In the attacking midfield department, the club already possess an array of talent, with the likes of Juan Mata, Angel di Maria, Marouane Fellaini, Adnan Januzaj and Co. already starring in Manchester.
Van Gaal, of coruse, even has outcast Nani on his books, whilst PSV ace Memphis Depay is on his way, so expect the United chief to move players on in the upcoming window. It's set to be another extremely exciting summer for United fans.
