Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is set to tell four of his current players that they have no future at Old Trafford past this season in meetings this week.
According to information in a report published by the Daily Mail’s Ian Ladyman Radamel Falcao has already been instructed to prepare to leave the club once his loan spell is finished this summer, with Rafael da Silva, Jonny Evans, Nani and third-choice goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard set to receive similar news.
Van Gaal changes
In what is sure to be a summer of transition in Manchester Van Gaal will attempt to forge a squad capable of improving on the top four finish it has achieved this season, whilst also being able to cope with the rigours of Champions League football once more.
In order to do that the Dutchman will have to be sure every player on his books is one he trusts to perform to an acceptable standard, and it would appear he’s already keen to weed out those who he doesn’t.
Four men gone
Though the departures of Nani and Lindegaard are to be expected given that the former has spent the last season out on loan and the latter is stuck behind Victor Valdes and David de Gea in the pecking order, Van Gaal getting rid of Evans and Rafael may ruffle a few feathers.
Both men have been at Old Trafford since the days of Sir Alex Ferguson and it will no doubt upset a portion of the fans to have to see them leave. That said Van Gaal has no use for surplus figures in his new-look United, and critics would say that it wouldn’t be too difficult to find upgrades for either man.
United fans, what do you think about Van Gaal letting go the four aforementioned players? Should he keep any of them? Let us know in the comments box below.
