Chelsea striker Diego Costa was filmed throwing celery at some of the club’s supporters during Monday’s open-top bus parade to celebrate the team’s triumphant Premier League campaign.
The Brazil-born Spain international, who is certainly no stranger to controversy, appeared to hit a couple of the fans waving flags and t-shirts in apartments on Fulham Road. (Scroll down to see the footage).
Chelsea’s official Twitter account, somewhat tongue-in-cheek, labelled their Vine clip ‘Diego Costa kindly returning the celery!’. But while the striker clearly used a little bit of force, it was all in good fun and nobody got hurt - as far as we can tell, at least.
Before the parade, Cesc Fabregas posted a selfie with all of his Chelsea teammates on the bus. The aforementioned photo has since been retweeted over 3000 times and that number is expected to rise significantly over the forthcoming hours.
The Spaniard, who completed a surprise move to Stamford Bridge from Barcelona last summer, was also filmed shouting “Hello, mate!” in a bizarre voice to someone in the crowd. It may have been a random Chelsea fan.
Fabregas was one of several members of the Chelsea party to address the thousands of supporters who turned up to cheer their heroes, along with John Terry, Didier Drogba and manager Jose Mourinho.
Chelsea will be expected to successfully defend their Premier League crown next season, while also progressing further in the Champions League.
