To all Arsenal fans, Jack Wilshere is a player they can only dream of making it at the Emirates.
Time and time again the fans have seen moments of brilliance from the 23-year-old England international, but Wilshere cannot seem to stay fit for long enough to reach his potential.
This season, Wilshere has only managed nine starts under his belt, along with five substitute appearances, grabbing two goals and an assist. All Arsenal and England fans will hope that a longer, sustained run of games will see a much higher tally come the end of next season.
If Wilshere can stay fit for most of next season then many believe that he will be able keep a starting place in the starting line-up, especially as a home grown talent who's biggest fan seems to be Arsene Wenger.
The goal against West Bromich Albion this season, and against Norwich last, show simply an inkling of what the centre-midfielder can do.
Room for improvement
But to kick on, Wilshere needs to take a look at his midfield partner, Aaron Ramsey.
In the last two seasons, Ramsey has pushed forward with a desire to get his name on the score sheet and this is what Wilshere must do also, to secure his name stays on the team sheet.
Competition for places
Next season, competition for places amongst the Arsenal midfield will be fiercer than ever with the Gunners linked with the likes of Arturo Vidal, Sami Khedira and even Paul Pogba.
The competition should bring out the best in all of the squad but especially the young talents hoping to anchor a position in the first team such as Ramsey, Wilshere and Francis Coquelin.
To date, Wilshere has seven goals from 68 attempts in the Premier League over the course of his career, a statistic he would very much like to change.
