Arsenal are considering a surprise summer move for Leicester City full-back Jeffrey Schlupp after catching the eye of Arsene Wenger with his impressive performances at the King Power Stadium in 2014/15.
The 22-year-old was recently crowned the Young Player of the Year at the club's end-of-season awards ceremony following a number of impressive displays down the left flank, but according to the Daily Mirror could now leave the Foxes to join a higher-profile Premier League team.
Schlupp has been one of Leicester's most consistent performers this term and played an integral part in the great escape to help Nigel Pearson's side avoid relegation back to the Championship.
The Midlands outfit won seven of their last nine Premier League games - losing only to champions Chelsea - to help move clear of the drop zone. After an emphatic 5-1 victory over Queens Park Rangers on the final day of the season they finished up in 14th place, six points clear of relegation.
Pearson will be hoping to keep the majority of his squad together, but might struggle to convince Schlupp that his future will be best served at Leicester if the Gunners do indeed firm up their alleged interest.
Valued at around £5 million, Wenger is likely to be a huge fan of the Ghana international's versatility, given that he is capable of playing as a defender, midfielder or forward.
Schlupp actually underwent a trial with Manchester United back in 2013, but opted to commit his future to Leicester on the basis of being guaranteed more regular first-team football than what he perhaps would've achieved at Old Trafford.
However, after a promising debut season in England's top-flight, the African could now be ready to make the step up and move to the Emirates Stadium when the transfer window reopens this summer.
Of course, Schlupp is not the first Leicester player to be linked with a prospective switch to north London, with the Daily Mail reporting earlier this month that Danish goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel is also thought to be under consideration for Arsenal.
With question marks surrounding the long-term future of Wojciech Szczesny, the son of Red Devils legend Peter has been earmarked as a potential replacement for the Polish stopper, but it remains to be seen whether or not the Gunners will proceed with plans to sign him.
