When, on Monday, reports revealed that NFL lineman Ray McDonald had been arrested initial details on the exact allegations were sketchy.
Since then, the former 49ers star has been released by his most recent employers, the Chicago Bears, and it has become apparent that authorities were looking into a domestic violence accusation as well as claims of child endangerment.
Now, though, no more than 48 hours after McDonald was originally taken into custody, shocking new details have emerged courtesy of the 911 call made in the aftermath of the alleged incident.

As reported by The San Jose Mercury News, a despatcher calling at 3.49 am on Monday morning can be heard relaying details of the 911 call they received from Ray McDonald's ex-fiancées mother:
"She said she received a call from her daughter...advising that her boyfriend Ray McDonald was being violent...“She tried to lock herself in her bedroom but he broke the door down...Ex is trying to leave now with her infant.”

Following the discussion relayed above McDonald was arrested at the home of former San Francisco teammate Justin Smith. This after police had first made their way to the scene.
The new details certainly don't look good for McDonald although at this stage the defensive lineman has been released on a $15,000 bail at this stage.
Considering Ray McDonald's history with allegations of this nature - nine months ago he was arrested but not charged over allegations of assaulting his ex-fiancée - as well as the NFL's recent crackdown on players involved in domestic violence incidents, his future in the game looks bleak should he be found guilty of the accusations.
Having been given a second chance by the Chicago Bears after his earlier release by the 49ers, McDonald may find his chances of being handed a contract by a third NFL team very slim.
Whether the Bears were privy to any of the details made public today concerning the allegations is unclear. The fact that the franchise were unwilling to be associated with players accused of such things, though, was made obvious with their swift decision to cut ties with Ray McDonald only a few months after offering him a way back into the league.
