Hulk Hogan was arguably professional wrestling's first global superstar when he was in his prime in the 1980s.
Hulkamania and his in ring persona played a huge part in that, but so too did his ability to draw crowds outside the squared circle.
Hogan teases role
And for those who enjoyed seeing Hulk Hogan playing 'Thunderlips' in Rocky III just as much as they did seeing him dominate opponents in WCW or WWF, they will love the veteran's latest comments. Hulk Hogan revealing today that he is in talks for a major villain role in one of today's biggest movie franchises.
According to Wrestlezone, Hulk Hogan told a group of fans at the 2015 Body Power Expo at the NEC in Birmingham, England that he may well appear in the next instalment of The Expendables.
Speaking candidly (does Hulk Hogan no any other way?) the wrestling legend revealed that he had been in talks with Sylvester Stallone about a role that would see him play "the most evil man in the world."
Hogan the villain?
As alluded to above, Hogan has history when it comes to taking on Stallone on the big screen having been his opponent in Rocky III. That time Sly came out victorious but, with Hulk Hogan having been out of in-ring action in the WWE for several years, there is sure to be an appetite amongst wrestling fans to see Hogan take on a bad guy role once more.
While often a man who enjoyed the adulation of the wrestling fan base Hogan is no stranger to playing the 'heel'. He did so in the WWF and in WCW and proved he is capable of riling up the good guys.
But, despite his ever-lasting confidence, the nature of The Expendables would suggest that, if Hogan does get the gig, he will face an uphill battle to outdo the likes of Stallone, Jason Statham, Ronda Rousey and Harrison Ford.
More to the point, with Hulk Hogan having also suggested recently that he is in talks with Vince McMahon about being involved in one last match at next year's huge WrestleMania 32 event, wrestling fans will be hoping that any movie role doesn't interfere with those big plans.
