Dutch legend Marco van Basten believes Manchester United have signed a “special talent” in the form of Memphis Depay.
The retired forward believes Depay has the talent to become a success in the Premier League and expects the 21-year-old winger to flourish under the tutelage of Louis van Gaal.
United have paid £25 million for the PSV Eindhoven star, who finished the 2014-15 campaign as the top scorer in the Eredivisie with 22 goals.
Asked by Sky Sports whether there are any other players in Holland with similar talent to Depay, Van Basten responded: "No. He's a special talent. He's better than the rest.
"He's a very good player. He's a young star who is strong and has his own ideas, which I think is a good thing for a player.
"He's also a guy who still wants to learn and he's in good hands with Louis van Gaal who has already worked with him at the World Cup.
"He now has to demonstrate that he can also play well in England. He will show that to you. I don't know whether it will be quick and come in the first year but he has the skills to succeed in England."

Man Utd must pay £32.5m for Christian Benteke
In other news, Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood has confirmed star striker Christian Benteke has a £32.5 million release clause in his contract.
Manchester United are one of several clubs reportedly interesting in signing the Belgium international, but it’s currently unclear whether Louis van Gaal is prepared to pay such a huge amount of money for the 24-year-old who has scored 42 goals in 88 Premier League appearances.
United are on the hunt for a new striker, with Radamel Falcao having returned to AS Monaco, but is Benteke the answer?

Marcos Rojo calls Van Gaal ‘cold’ and ‘distant’
And finally, Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo could be in a spot of bother with Louis van Gaal after labelling the Red Devils’ boss “distant” and “very cold” in an interview with a radio station in Argentina.
The versatile left-back told Pase a la Liga: "Van Gaal is distant, very cold but has a lot of experience, he's great coach and you learn a lot.
“Sometimes he seems very demanding."
Rojo is currently preparing for the Copa America, which gets underway in Chile in less than two weeks time.
