Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala has claimed Paul Pogba would fit in perfectly at the Etihad were he to make the move to the Premier League.
The Juventus midfielder is likely to be the subject of a summer transfer saga and the City defender has done nothing to quell the speculation surrounding his compatriot's potential move.
The comments from Mangala are likely to ramp up the pressure on City officials to acquire one of the most sought-after property’s in world football.
Pogba is preparing to face Barcelona in the Champions League final a week on Saturday, with talk he could be making his last appearance for the Old Lady. The opposition in Berlin are one of a host rumoured to be moving for the 22-year-old’s services in competition with Chelsea, Manchester United and Mangala’s City.
The 24-year-old said of his international teammate in an interview with the Sun cited by ESPN: “He’s a great player who has everything. Manchester City or any team would love to have him in their ranks.
“I know him well, not just from the under-21s, but also the full French national squad. He’s a great lad, very mature - both on and off the field.
“For somebody so young, he has experienced a lot with the Serie A titles he has won and the Champions League final this year.”
Pogba is the type of talent that any elite club would want to lure but City will be the most desperate not to miss out on the dynamic midfielder.
Yaya Toure is likely to be departing the Etihad and Pogba would prove the outstanding candidate to replace him. Identical in stature, similar in goalscoring threat and arguably advanced in his ability to cover ground attacking and defending, signing Pogba would be a significant step to bridging the gap to Chelsea.
Despite being brought up through the United academy, Pogba is a statement signing and is the ideal fit for rebuilding the ageing squad City have.
