The Spanish defender, who has established his status as the Gunners’ first-choice right-back in the absence of summer signing Mathieu Debuchy, has revealed that Fabregas only had good things to say about Arsenal at the time.
Furthermore, Bellerin hinted he has no intention of returning to Barcelona, despite recent reports linking the 20-year-old with a return to the Camp Nou.
“I think that’s a wrong thought because if I wanted to be at Barcelona I would have stayed there,” he was quoted as saying by the Mirror. “My challenge was to come to England and I came here with everything.
“And I came here to stay and to cement my place in the first team and be here for four more years. If I wanted to have played for Barcelona in the future I would have just stayed there and made my way there.
“I made that decision when I was young to come over here, and I’m not thinking about my future, I’m just thinking about playing for Arsenal and doing well.”
Bellerin: Cesc said good things about Arsenal
And on Fabregas, Bellerin confirmed: “I spoke to Cesc once I got here. He is such a professional guy, at that time he was an Arsenal player, obviously he said all good things about it.
“As a guy he was really happy here. With his help, and the help from the club, we had such a good welcome and they made me feel at home.”
Bellerin would sign his first professional contract two years later before making his competitive debut in September 2013.
But this season has been his breakthrough campaign. Bellerin has made 27 appearances in all competitions this term, scoring two goals in the process, and is expected to start for Arsenal in this afternoon’s FA Cup final against Aston Villa at Wembley Stadium.
