Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann looks set for a summer switch to Chelsea after sports betting company Betfair slashed their odds for the move down to 4/5.

The French international has been linked with several other European clubs after a strong season in Spain in which the forward scored 25 goals.

Other favourites to land the 24-year-old include Bayern Munich (6/1), Arsenal (20/1) and Liverpool (25/1).

It is unclear if Bayern Munich will continue in their chase of Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling or make Griezmann their main summer target. But in either case Chelsea seem to be front runners for the youngster’s signature.

Football Trader for Betfair, Michael Bowers commented: “It looks like the youngster’s £43.5 million release clause may have been met as Antoine Griezmann has now been backed into odds-on to make the move to Stamford Bridge this summer.

“The Frenchman could further bolster the attack of the league-winning squad’s armoury and more importantly, prevent any of Mourinho’s rivals from signing the talented forward.”

Griezmann could cost Mourinho’s Chelsea anywhere up to £45m but should provide Chelsea with a clear back-up to Diego Costa and be a strong replacement for the departing Drogba.

The attacking midfielder has played just five times for his country but seems to have a promising international career ahead of him. The forward is extremely versatile and can play on either the left and right side of the attack or through the middle, in behind the striker.

If the move were to go ahed it would represent an exciting addition to both Chelsea and the Premier League.
