Valencia defender Nicolas Otamendi wants to join Manchester United this summer, as he wants to compete for the biggest titles, according to Sky Sports pundit Guillem Balague.
Balague, speaking to Ryan Bailey of the Bleacher Report, claims that the Argentine international, who has been linked with a summer move to Old Trafford of late, wants to leave Valencia behind sooner rather than later, with the player preferring a move to Manchester.
Otamendi has gone from strength-to-strength in Spain's elite division in recent time, so it's not entirely surprising that Red Devils chief Louis van Gaal is interested in his signature.

Ultimately, in Van Gaal's debut campaign at the Theatre of Dreams, United's back-line endured an indifferent time, with a number of the club's defenders failing to maintain their fitness throughout the course of the season.
The defensive quartet of Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones, Jonny Evans and Chris Smalling all spent time out on the sidelines last term, while the latter started to prove himself on a consistent basis towards the end of the season.

He wants United
Otamendi, then, may well add to the club's defensive ranks, and it certainly appears that the player wants to move to United, if Balague is to be believed.
The Spanish football expert claimed: "It was very clear that Otamendi had made his mind up on one thing: to leave Valencia.
“It’s nothing to do with Valencia, it’s just the fact that he feels that what he’s going to get at Manchester United, and it’s not the only club that want want him, but it’s certainly the one that he would prefer to go to.
“It’s not just a matter of money, it seems the possibility of the biggest titles. Manchester United will challenge for everything next season while Valencia are still in a developing process.”
Of course, it's far from certain as to whether the United hierarchy will agree a deal with Valencia over the Argentine international, but he'd no doubt prove a fine signing for the club as they go about improving in 2015/16.
At the end of the day, United will be determined to make a go of things in the race to secure the Premier League title next term, so adding a reliable, experienced defender will only help them on that front.
At 27, the Argentine is approaching the prime of his career, so Van Gaal and Co. should attempt to secure this deal in the near future.
