A very good day to you, Arsenal fans. Since it’s mid-week we expect the hangovers from the FA Cup final celebrations to be just about gone, and as a result you’ve got no excuse not to want a fix of football news.
If that’s the case you’re in luck! It may not compare to Theo Walcott hammering in a half-volley at Wembley or Alexis Sanchez rifling past Shay Given from range, but what are a team of journalists to do when expectations are so high?

What would a summer transfer window be without Arsenal finding themselves linked with Geoffrey Kondogbia? Well it wouldn’t be a very good transfer window at all now, would it.

The French midfielder signed for the Ligue 1 giants for €20m in 2013 and still has three years remaining on his contract, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be moving on. Arsenal have Francis Coquelin to protect the back four at the moment, but Wenger is thought to want more competition.
Le Prof will have to spent considerably more than the fee Monaco paid to prise him away from Sevilla, but he’s proven in the last two consecutive summers that he’s willing to do that if the player in question is right.
Elsewhere Nacho Monreal has confirmed he doesn’t want to leave, despite being linked with Athletic Bilbao. The Spaniard said he wanted to remain a Gunner, and hopes Wenger will offer him a new deal.
With his contract set to expire next summer Arsenal are indeed at a crossroads. If they choose not to hand him a deal he could walk for free at the end of his next season, with Bilbao surely ready to patiently wait. If they do hand him a new contract though Kieran Gibbs’ future might be thrown into the realms of uncertainty. A classic catch-22.
Lastly we turn to the speculation that hit the web late last night suggesting Manchester United flop Tom Cleverley could be a viable Arsenal target. He’s available on a free this summer and is set to have offers from Aston Villa, Everton and supposedly the Emirates Stadium. Make of that what you will.
