Manchester United want to make Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema their new number nine as they go about improving their strike-force this summer.
This has been reported by the Manchester Evening News, who claim that the Red Devils want the Spanish giants to include the French striker in any deal involving goalkeeper David de Gea.
De Gea, of course, has been heavily linked with a move to the Bernabeu in recent time, with the former Atletico man set to run out of his current deal at the Theatre of Dreams at the end of next season.

It's not entirely surprising that Real, who have just appointed former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez as their new maanger, are interested in signing De Gea, as he's enjoyed a fine last couple of years on English soil.
Having secured back-to-back Player of the Year awards at United, the 'keeper has been the club's outstanding and most consistent player for some time now, and is widely regarded as one of the best young goalkeepers in world football.

That's seemingly why the Red Devils are intent on getting the best deal out of Madrid if the player does depart over the coming months.
And United are certainly in need of reinforcements in attack, with Colombian striker Radamel Falcao having returned to French outfit Monaco after his disappointing campaign in the Premier League. Dutchman Robin van Persie, meanwhile, has failed to maintain his fitness and struggled for form under Louis van Gaal, so you can hardly blame the Manchester United hierarchy for looking at recruiting Benzema.
It's far from certain, however, as to whether Benitez will allow Benzema to leave the club or whether the striker would even be interested in a move to Manchester.
One thing's for sure, though, United are right to try and include the Frenchman in the De Gea deal. At the end of the day, as the club go in search of improvement up top, there seems to be a lack of realistic top-class striker targets available.
Benzema, then, would no doubt excel at Old Trafford, as United go in search of trophies in 2015/16 with the club set to return to Europe's elite division. A front two of Wayne Rooney and Benzema would certainly excite the United faithful. It's certainly going to be a huge summer for all those involved at Manchester United and Real Madrid.
