When an opportunity arises for WWE to have a legend return it is always welcomed, but a match between that legend and a current top superstar is welcomed even more so.
Although it is little under a year away, there has already been a lot of discussion regarding WrestleMania 32.
This is mainly because the location of the AT&T Stadium in Texas not only has a massive capacity, but is also based in the home town of a number of top WWE superstars.
The likes of Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker and Stone Cold Steve Austin all boast Texas as their home state, but it is the latest talk of a possible match involving Austin at the event which has got fans excited.
During his popular chat with Paul Heyman as part of the Stone Cold podcast on the WWE Network this week, the Texas Rattlesnake became the interviewee when Heyman quizzed him about a possible match with Brock Lesnar on The Grandest Stage Of Them All next year.
When Heyman simply asked Stone Cold if he would like to challenge the beast he replied with some degree of certainty: "I'd beat his a**!".
The Texas Rattlesnake then went on to say: "If I was going to fight Brock Lesnar, I would beat his a**. You know that as well as I do, Paul. You sit there with that little grin on your face and I’m not saying I’m going to, but I think you would know how it would go down."
Given the talent and experience of the two professional wrestlers as individuals, it would be an exciting enough match up alone to see which way the win would go, but Austin's confidence just makes even a suggestion of the fight even more interesting.
On Certain Terms
Austin continued to air his confidence when Heyman pressed him about the possible bout:
"I'd have to think about it, but the person who would really have to think about it is Brock Lesnar. I don’t think he’d want to take all the momentum and all the good stuff you have done to roll in to 105,000 to Texas Stadium or AT&T Stadium to get his a** smoked!"
Given his history of injuries, it was understandable when Austin went on to say that if the match took place he would like it to be a Texas Death Match which is similar in style to a Last Man Standing match.
This would be beneficial to Austin, who it should not be forgotten will be 51-years-old come WrestleMania 32 next year, as it would mean more a standing-up and therefore less-technical affair could take place.
Despite his age, Stone Cold is unquestionably in great shape and although it has been over a decade since he last fought inside a WWE ring, the detail he went into regarding a possible fight with Lesnar could well mean the WWE Universe will see a incredible long-awaited return to the ring.
