No sooner had Rafael Benitez been sworn in as Real Madrid’s new manager was he already discussing potential transfer targets with the Los Blancos board.
Unfortunately for Arsenal, centre-back Laurent Koscielny is reportedly high on his wish-list, with improving the defence something the former Liverpool man seemingly wants to differ from virtually all of his predecessors on.

Koscielny is one of Arsene Wenger’s key players so Gunners fans have every right to worry, though it’s as of yet unknown whether or not the France international would reciprocate the interest if given the chance.
Since Real Madrid are known for their ability to tempt virtually any player who isn’t employed by Barcelona - and they’ve even done that in the past - we’re going to have to throw our weight behind the theory that Koscielny would be interested. But alas, it’s all by the by until a formal bid is made.
Elsewhere Southampton star Victor Wanyama has confirmed that it would be nice to join Arsenal, via Kenyan TV. In a statement sure to anger all Saints fans the midfielder revealed an interest in joining Wenger’s fold.
It’s controversial to say the least but hey, if publically declaring your desires is the only way to force Southampton into selling you then what’s a guy to do? Probably remain loyal and bite the bullet until the two clubs negotiate is what, but Wanyama has never played by the rules.
In other news it’s been confirmed that Arsenal have lost out in the race to sign James Milner this summer, as he’s agreed a deal with Liverpool that is subject only to a medical.
Reports yesterday detailed how Wenger was holding back on an offer due to Milner’s wage demands, but it appears the chance to land the England international has now escaped him altogether.
