Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has provoked more questions about the possibility of a summer move away from St Mary’s after an ambiguous tweet about his next destination in football.

The tweet, which was posted on Thursday morning showed the French-born midfielder on a rock looking out to sea, with the caption: “Somewhere on Planet Earth ... Thinking about what the future holds …. #VacationTime”

The cheeky tone of the message, which had already been retweeted hundreds of times just minutes after it was posted, will be sure to unnerve the Southampton faithful.

The post to the social media site went down well with most fans though, with some even offering Schneiderlin suggested destinations for a summer move.

@wefollowunited tweeted in response saying: “Old Trafford is a nice place mate.”

Another United fan @PeoplesPerson_ pitched in too saying: “The view from the Stretford End is much better than pal”

Although not all fans took the news well, one Saints fan, @dan_of_steel, clearly wants Schneiderlin to stay saying: “Go with your heart, Morgan… i.e. St Mary’s!”

The former Strasbourg player has been linked with several Premier League clubs over the last three months including Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal.

The 25-year-old has scored 14 goals since he joined the Saints in 2008 and after a string of fine performances many feel he deserves the chance to shine at a top-four club.
