He may be the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion but Seth Rollins has made a dramatic revelation about his days in NXT.
Rollins became the first ever NXT Champion while in developmental and was regarded as one of the best to ever appear on the brand.
Rollins helped to build the reputation of NXT which these days is seen as being a league ahead of RAW and Smackdown by some fans.
As part of the Shield with Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose, Rollins finally appeared on the main roster at Survivor Series 2012 and they instantly became a dominant force.
The history of Seth Rollins is a great story but the man himself has revealed that it may all of never happened.
The WWE Network released a special look at the members of the Shield ahead of last year's Summer Slam and there is some coverage of the three members during their developmental days.
When talking about Rollins, there is some mention of his frustration at being stuck at a developmental level and he has added to that speculation today.
When asked about his past at Wizard World, Rollins revealed that he came very close to being fired by the WWE during his days in developmental.
He credited current friend Joey Mercury for helping to save his career by helping him to lay everything out and set him on the right path.
Rollins as part of the Shield helped to shape so much WWE history and to reflect on it all now in light of the fact that Rollins was almost fired shows the contribution the Mercury made to the company by helping the future WWE Champion.
A looming return?
Rollins made a big revelation from his comments today but he also dropped a huge hint towards something that could happen in the future.
Rollins claimed that some day, there will be a Shield reunion which is sure to come as music to some fans ears.
