It's an exciting time to be a fan of the Miami Dolphins right now, to say the least.
The Dolphins have almost completely revolutionised their offense, bringing in Pro Bowl tight end Jordan Cameron in free agency, trading for New Orleans Saints wideout Kenny Stills and using their first round draft pick on the exciting receiver DeVante Parker out of Louisville.
But that bubble could be set to bust with the news that one of their newest stars has had to go under the knife.
Parker Under the Knife
According to a tweet from Tom Pelissero of USA Today, the aforementioned Parker had surgery on his foot yesterday and will miss a significant period of time.
Parker is expected back for the regular season opener. If the season were going on now, Parker could have skipped the surgery and play. Parker has been earning rave reviews throughout Dolphins OTAs, so it's possible the Dolphins are confident he can contribute early and often in the regular season.
Worryingly for Dolphins fans, this is Parker's second foot surgery in less than a year. They will be praying that this will not become a long term problem that could hamper his career.
Parker will have a good chance to become the Dolphins' No. 1 receiver once he gets up to speed. Jarvis Landry was second on the team with 758 receiving yards and five touchdowns last season, behind Mike Wallace who is now in Minnesota.
Kenny Stills had 931 yards and three touchdowns with the New Orleans Saints, and Greg Jennings caught 59 passes for 742 yards and six touchdowns with the Minnesota Vikings.
