Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal looks set to work alongside the club's former manager Sir Alex Ferguson as the club go about improving their squad this summer.

This has been reported by the Mirror, who claim that the Dutch boss, who led the Old Trafford outfit to a fourth placed finish this past season, is ready to utilise Ferguson's contacts in the upcoming transfer window.

United, of course, splashed the cash last summer, as the likes of Angel di Maria, Ander Herrera and Co. joined the ranks at the Theatre of Dreams, but it appears that they're set to spend big once again as they go in search of claiming the Premier League title in 2015/16.

In fact, the same report from the Mirror claims that the Red Devils chief could be handed as much as £200 million this summer, with Dutchman Memphis Depay already on his way to the club.

One thing's for sure, Ferguson will only help Van Gaal succeed in the upcoming window, with the legendary manager donning such a high status in the game.

Improvement needed

With Depay on his way, United may well need to continue to invest in their attack, with an out-and-out striker seemingly needed after the departure of Colombian ace Radamel Falcao.

A central-midfielder must be added, too, with Michael Carrick not getting any younger, while a right-back must be a priority after Rafael's nightmare season meant Ecuadorian star Antonio Valenica had to fill the void.

Of course, if David de Gea departs, then many will expect the club to go in search of a new goalkeeper, but with Victor Valdes already at the club, Van Gaal and Co. should invest in other areas. One thing's for sure, United must improve if they're going to catch Chelsea - it's going to be an exciting summer for all involved.
