Manchester United decide against Gareth Bale transfer

Manchester United are reported to have made the decision not to mount a bid for Real Madrid record acquisition Gareth Bale in the fast approaching summer transfer window.

This would seem to be just as well, really, after Bale himself stated his expectation that he would still be a Real Madrid player next season, with the Wales international claiming to feel ‘settled’ in the Spanish capital. carry the story on the Manchester United interest, or lack thereof it, reporting that Louis van Gaal will instead pursue alternative targets as Bale bids to win back the trust and belief of the Madrid faithful.

This is not to say Manchester United have completely called off any proposed move for Bale, but rather it would now more likely come in a year’s time (or January, perhaps?) than in this summer transfer period.

Bale has the determination to right the wrongs of this campaign, which saw him suddenly fall back to earth having been riding high after decisive hands in the finals of the Copa del Rey and Champions League the previous season.

The 25-year-old has very much been the scapegoat for the failures endured by Real Madrid, with his profligacy in front of goal during the European defeat to Juventus a particular bone of contention for supporters.

A move to Manchester United may have been just what was required to reignite the form Bale has shown previously but, alas, it would now appear that this move to Old Trafford is not in the offing.
