Victor Valdes is a shock summer target for Valencia, who believe the Manchester United goalkeeper is the ideal man to become their number one for next season.
According to Spanish newspaper Super Deporte the veteran ‘keeper, who of course moved to Old Trafford after a long and hugely successful stint at Barcelona in January, could well be the subject of an offer from Spain that leaves Louis van Gaal with a big decision to make.
The Dutchman is already sweating over the future of current first-choice ‘keeper David de Gea, who finds himself the top target for Real Madrid, meaning that he is going to have to approach the Valdes situation very carefully if Valencia’s interest is genuine.

Owner Peter Lim has plenty of money to spend at the Mestalla, meaning that the idea of the Spanish outfit not having the finances to attract Vales isn’t a benefit United have.
He may have played second fiddle to De Gea thus far but if the 24-year-old does move to the Santiago Bernabeu he’ll be the only recognised ‘keeper United have. Therein lies the major issue.

Of course Van Gaal has been linked with moves for the likes of Stoke City’s Asmir Begovic and Tottenham Hotspur’s Hugo Lloris of late, but in Valdes he has a certified experienced option who has won trophies aplenty and knows what it takes to perform in the biggest of matches.
SHould he move?
Super Deporte also claim that Valencia have already snubbed the option of potentially taking Iker Casillas onboard due to his inconsistent form, meaning that they’re not messing around when it comes to hiring a custodian they believe is capable of helping them bridge the gap between themselves and the likes of Atletico Madrid, Real and Barcelona.
Just what Valdes will think of the situation remains to be seen given that he’s yet enjoy a run of games in the United goalmouth.
One gets the feeling that so long as De Gea is there the 33-year-old is going to be the backup option, though he would surely contest for the starting spot if his current teammate makes the leap to return to Spain.
Manchester United fans what do you think? Would Valdes be right to leave for Valencia or should he stick it out and fight for his Old Trafford place? Let us know in the comments box below.
