Arsenal left-back Nacho Monreal believes Arsenal can win the Premier League next season.
In an interview with Arsenal Player the 29-year-old revealed how he would relish new signings at the club and a real fight to win the league:
“I imagine the club will sign new players but at the moment we are making a good group and it will help us for the next season.
“If everyone gives 100 per cent next season, we will have opportunities to win the Premier League. Obviously it will be difficult because there are so many good teams in the league but we will fight for it.”
Monreal joined Arsenal from Malaga in January 2013 and in that time he has gone on to play over 80 times for the Gunners, scoring twice in the process. The most notable of which came at Old Trafford in the FA Cup:
“One of my favourite moments was scoring against Manchester United,” said the former Osasuna player.
“I remember the game because I scored a goal, we won at a really difficult ground, so it was the best [individual] moment that I had.”
Monreal has proved to be a key member of Arsenal’s first-team squad this season. The full-back assisted Olivier Giroud's late equaliser in a 2–2 draw against Everton, and after an injury crisis in the squad, he was deployed in an unfamiliar central defensive role for a string of games, after Laurent Koscielny was put out of action with an Achilles tendon injury.
Monreal also played in Arsenals 4-0 FA Cup final win over Aston Villa at Wembley, helping Arsenal to become the competitions most successful side. Monreal has now won two FA Cup’s and the Community Shield in his time with Arsenal.
