Florentin Pogba wanted by Aston Villa in early summer deal

Aston Villa are looking to tie up a summer signing of French defender Florentin Pogba, according to reports.

The brother of Juventus star Paul Pogba is currently with French side St. Etienne and is attracting the interest of many clubs across Europe.

Impressive sibling

24-year-old Florentin has impressed under new St. Etienne manager Christophe Galtier and has been offered a new contract at the French side. However, with great performances usually comes great prospects and an offer from the Premier League could be one that's too attractive to turn down for the centre-back.

Florentin, whose twin brother Mathias plays for League One side Crawley is eager to follow in his two brothers' footsteps and play in England. According to information relayed by talkSPORT Villa are keen to take the player away from his current club.

Making a name

Pogba will be looking to make more of a name for himself than what his brother Mathias has done and a transfer to a Premier League outfit would surely put the lesser known Florentin on the map. On top of that with the player's contract running out next year, Villa could be signing Pogba on the cheap.

Aston Villa and Sherwood must rebuild this summer if they are to survive another season in the Premier League. Having missed out on top target Tom Cleverley recently, Sherwood will have learned to be more shrewd and will be eager to complete any proposed deal soon.

The back line at Villa must be a priority as the Villains struggled in defence for all of last season. With the acquisition of Pogba it could take a large amount of pressure off the depleted defensive third and Sherwood getting deals done early will only be a good thing.

Villa fans, do you think adding to the defence early is what needs to be done for success? Let us know your thoughts in the comments box below.
