Although an announcement made in the world of professional wrestling is often not set in stone, the suggestion of a certain match between two giants of the industry at WrestleMania 32 seemed quite likely.
The biggest WWE event of the year is being held at the AT&T Stadium in Texas next year in front of a huge crowd and is staged in a location which is the home state of professional wrestler's such as Shawn Michaels, the Undertaker and Stone Cold himself.
With this in mind, when Steve Austin spoke with Paul Heyman on his Stone Cold podcast last week, Austin's teasing of a potential match up with Brock Lesnar excited the WWE Universe.

However, now it seems Stone Cold has become very aware that what was meant to come across as a joke, which should be laughed off, has instead been received as a plausible bout at next year's event.
The Texas Rattlesnake has since explained why he responded to Paul Heyman, who he refers to as his character name Paul E Dangerously.

"I didn't know what Paul E was gonna ask, and he started talking about Brock Lesnar and WrestleMania 32 in Dallas. Of course, boy, I bit hook, line and sinker - Stone Cold mode, starting cutting a half-a** promo. I wasn't trying to, ended up talking about me whipping Brock's a**."
Given Stone Cold's personality, it comes as little surprise that his response came across as something more serious than what he genuinely intended as. After all, it would not be within his nature to back down and turn down any challenge.
He continued: "What I did was kind of raised the hopes of people, and halfway kind of half-ass booked myself into a match - which was not my intention. So, at WrestleMania 32, I don't believe you're gonna be seeing Brock Lesnar-Stone Cold Steve Austin in the same ring; I just wanted to make that clear to everybody."
Home state appearance?
Even though this news means we will not be seeing The Beast face Austin in what would have no doubt been a memorable match, it could well mean that we see Austin in the same ring against another current big name of WWE.
Although nothing has yet been confirmed and will not be for some time, it would be surprising if there is no appearance made by at least one of Austin, Michaels or The Dead Man simply given the location. Having WrestleMania 32 in Texas is surely something WWE could push in the lead up to the event in order to increase fan excitement and rumors in the build up to the event.
In addition, as Stone Cold also went on to explain, there are a number of exciting things in the pipe line which involve Austin including continuing his podcast, as well as hosting his Broken Skull Challenge show which all but proves that he will continue to be a prominent figure within the media for a long time.
