Paris Saint-Germain right-back Gregory van der Wiel has been offered to Manchester United ahead of the summer transfer window, according to the Daily Mail.
The report claims that the Red Devils could now land the Dutch international after former target Dani Alves signed a new deal with Spanish giants Barcelona.
Alves had seemingly been lined up by United boss Louis van Gaal on a free transfer, but it now appears that he will have to look elsewhere as he goes about improving his options in the right-back department.

And that may well lead him to PSG's Van der Wiel, who may well complete a move to Old Trafford sooner rather than later.
At 27-years of age, the Dutchman, who previously starred at Ajax, would most certainly prove quite the coup for the Red Devils, with the same report from the Mail claiming that he will cost United as much as £7 million in the upcoming window.

It remains to be seen, however, as to whether the Manchester United hierarchy press ahead with a move for the full-back or if they opt out of signing him. In fact, the player could yet move to the Serie A, with Italian outfit Roma seemingly interested in his signature, so the Red Devils must make a decision imminently.
Van der Wiel, who starred on a consistent basis in Ligue 1 last term, would certainly improve Van Gaal's options at the back, with the club seemingly in need of a steady player in the right-back role.
United in need
At the end of the day, last term, as the Dutch boss led the Red Devils to a fourth placed finish in England's elite division, United's back-line was often the subject of criticism, despite major improvements towards the back-end of the campaign.
And, at right-back, United most certainly had their problems, with Antonio Valencia, who previously starred as a right-winger, having to feature in the role after flamboyant Brazilian ace Rafael da Silva failed to maintain his fitness.
In truth, for Rafael, it's seemingly going to be tricky for him to prove himself under Van Gaal anytime soon. At the end of the day, he really did have a season to forget at Old Trafford, and may well be running out of time to hold down a permanent position in Manchester.
At 24-years of age, he can longer be classed as a youngster, so is in need of stepping up imminently. He may not even get that chance at Manchester United. The club are doing the right thing by signing a new right-back, as they're in need of a reliable back-line.
