Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo's strike against Liverpool has been named as the best Champions League goal of the 2014-15 campaign.
Ronaldo opened the scoring midway through the first half after exquisite passing play led to a perfect lobbed pass from James into the path of the Portuguese man, who made no mistake in crisply catching the ball on a half volley, putting it past the sprawling Simon Mignolet in the Liverpool goal.
Even some of the home fans got up out of their seats and applauded the pure brilliance from the current Ballon d’Or holder.
The runner-up for the UEFA’s goal of the tournament was Barcelona’s Ivan Rakitic after quick opener in the final against Juventus.
The Real Madrid forward beat the likes of Lionel Messi, Marco Reus and teammate Karim Benzema to the coveted prize.
The 30-year-old also won top goalscorer for the competition with his impressive 10 goals – this was the third consecutive season in which Ronaldo has won the top goal scorer award, but he will have to share the trophy with Messi and Neymar after they also both reach double figures in the competition.
