It seems as if the potentially terminal meeting between Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers and the FSG owners has ruffled the hierarchy at Anfield into a slight frenzy. Hearing of two very decent signings in the first fortnight of a transfer window is near incredulous for the Red club from Liverpool.
The announcements of James Milner and Danny Ings joining the club prior to a medical is welcome news for the Liverpool faithful who has been clutching onto any bit of news source in the past week on the desperate search for positive news.
Of course to a majority some, the news that Rodgers will continue to lead and inspire Liverpool into next season and possibly further is not positive news. In a way, the pessimists will be smiling because come a year from now, if Rodgers is still leading the club, the Reds will have secured Champions League football for the 2016/2017 season.
It is clear that the club needed a boost and perhaps the secret impetus has come via a huge injection of cash from the American owners.
Another important consideration is that fellow competitors Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal and even Tottenham will be itching and breaking their bank for quality signings.
To be honest, the two signings Liverpool have already secured is not a sure sign of top four quality, but as former Liverpool great Jaime Carragher eluded to on Twitter, it is a very good step in the right direction.
We look forward to more from Liverpool Football Club in the next few weeks as star names are thrown into the brewing Liverpool pot; names like Carlos Tevez, Zlatan Ibrahimović and even more tantalisingly, Marco Reus and Edinson Cavanni.
With attacking threats like these, Reds fans will be happy with any two of the above, granting of course the defence and midfield are not neglected.
