Branislav Ivanovic is the only player from the Premier League to appear in UEFA’s squad of the season.
Jose Mourinho’s side made it through the group-stage, but disappointed many by crashing out of last season’s tournament, after French Side Paris Saint-Germain caused a massive upset at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues earned a 1-1 draw in France, with Ivanovic getting the all important away goal for Chelsea. Many believed Chelsea would stroll through after Zlatan Ibrahimovic was sent off in the return leg during the first-half, but that was far from the case with David Luiz and Thiago Silva helping the French giants progress to the quarter-finals.
Ivanovic has made over 50 appearances in the most prestigious club tournament, missed just one game in the Champions League last season - that being a 3-1 victory against Sporting Lisbon.
The Serbian international appeared seven times for The Blues in the tournament playing the full 90 minutes in each and every game last season.
The team is predominantly made up of players from finalists Barcelona and Juventus, with the inclusion of two Real Madrid players - Toni Kroos, Cristiano Ronaldo and then Chelsea’s Ivanovic.
