Neymar to be the face of PES 2016

Creators of the football simulation game Pro Evolution Soccer has announced that Brazilian superstar Neymar will front the 2016 version of the game

Neymar has just completed his most successful season for Barcelona helping them to win La Liga, the Copa del Ray and the Champions League. Neymar scored 49 goals across all competitions and looks set to do even better next season.

Alongside both Messi and Suarez in the Barcelona attack, the trio have broken records as they became the most prolific threesome in football, bagging 120 goals in the campaign.

They forward who scored in his sides Champions League final against Juventus has spoken about how excited he is to be part of the video game:

"This is a real honour for me to be cover star for PES 2016," he was quoted as saying by Gamespot. The series has long been praised for its sheer level of control and utter realism and I am delighted to be working with such a talented team as Konami.

"I am fascinated by the huge amount of work involved in putting together the game and ensuring the world’s top players look and play just like the real things, and cannot wait to see myself in action as soon as possible."

Neymar joins a long list of stars to have graced the cover of the leading rival to the FIFA football game produced by EA Sports. Top names including Ronaldo, Messi, Torres and Gotze have all been featured on the front cover.

The latest instalment of the franchise will be released on June 12, 2015. It will be the sixteenth instalment in the series. The game will be available for both 8th generation gaming platforms, Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.
