Former Manchester United and Real Madrid legend David Beckham ran into another sporting great on Wednesday, as the 40-year-old stumbled across Somerset king Chris Gayle in London on a shopping trip.
The pair stopped for a photo before going their separate ways, but Gayle was quick to let his fans know what had happened later in the day via a post to the picture-sharing website Instagram, which read: 'I've said before, it doesn't hurt to do a bit of shopping! @davidbeckham'.
The 35-year-old is returning to the action on Friday in the T20 Blast as his side takes on Surrey. Last week Gayle played a vital role in his team's win over Hampshire and it seems he now has turned his attention to matters less sporting.
Gayle had posted earlier in the day about his trip but he seemingly didn't anticipate ruining into Beckham while he was doing it. In the morning he had said: 'Off to a bit of shopping... Haven't done this in 3months - guess it won't hurt anyone but my pocket. Need anything? #GetItYourself'.
The Jamaican born big-hitter has hit one run shy of 1000 T20I runs at an average of 33.
In his total T20 career Gayle has hit 15 centuries, his most recent of which was 151 of just 62 balls against Kent at Taunton in late May. Gayle's biggest T20 contribution was a massive 175 not out of just 66 deliveries.
