Serie A’s official Twitter page claims that Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci is set to sign a contract extension that will keep him in Turin until 2019.
The statement says that both club and player have reached an agreement, which will see the Italian earn €3.5 million plus add-ons.
Bonucci, a member of the side who suffered Champions League final heartbreak last season against Barcelona, moved to Juventus from Bari in 2010.
He’s played a crucial role in the heart of the Juventus defence, making over 50 appearances in all competitions and adding to his list of club honours by winning Serie A and the Coppa Italia.
The 28-year-old quickly became a fan favourite with his surprising prolific goalscoring ability as a centre-back, which is strongly down to his strength in the air, seeing him score 14 goals in 225 games.
His current deal ties him to the club until 2017, however the four times successive Serie A title winners are set to officially announce his contract extension soon.
