Barcelona are currently the side you might argue need this summers transfer window the least. They are champions of Spain, champions of Europe and before too long it’s likely they’ll be champions of the world, in the Club World Cup.
It is probably a good thing too. Barcelona are currently under a transfer ban. Complications surrounding recent transfer movements mean Barcelona can no longer purchase new players until January next year.
That being said they will certainly be watching over the Copa America like a hawk. The Catalan club have a history of endorsing some of the most talented south American players before. A certain Alexis Sanchez springs to mind.
But it seems that Barcelona could be looking to tempt Jackson Martinez to the club despite the ban. It would seem unlikely he would join straight after the tournament and play no games till January, especially as a 28 year old.
But Martinez is almost certainly of Barcelona quality. The forward has bagged 67 goals in his last 89 league games for Porto. Whilst La Liga would provide the forward with an array of more difficult defences to hurdle he will certainly receive better service in Luis Enrique’s side.
Nicknamed “Jackshow Martinez” by Portuguese journalist Joao Ruela, the forwards flair and style will almost certainly find a home amongst the endless star names at Barca, even if his role as is reduced to an impact player. It seems unlikely that he will be able to displace Neymar, Suraez or Messi in Barcelona’s front three.
The player is 6ft 1’ and plays as a number 9 for F.C Porto. He has previously played at Chiapas before and has netted 10 goals for his country.
