Bayern Munich are set to approach Premier League side Southampton for the services of Sadio Mane, according to Daily Mail.
Mane made his name as one of the outstanding performers of the 2014/15 Premier League season and after an impressive debut campaign with the Saints it would appear that Bayern have expressed their interest.
Problems for Guardiola
Manager Pep Guardiola is said to be in the transfer market on the look out for a winger who could provide back-up to their ageing stars Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben.
Bayern may have done brilliantly domestically but the absence of the Frenchman, as well as his Dutch international teammate, dented their hopes of Champions League glory this term, with them ultimately crashing out to Barcelona in the semi-finals.
As for Mane, the 23-year-old transferred from Red Bull Salzburg to Southampton for £11.8 million last August and it can be assumed that Saints manager Ronald Koeman would be reluctant to part ways with his star performer.
Mane scored ten goals for the St. Mary’s outfit, including a record-breaking hattrick against Aston Villa in May which took him just two minutes and 56 seconds.
The Senegalese international also helped Southampton secure a top half finish in the league, which made them eligible for Europa League qualifiers next season.
Having such a quality professional in the squad would add depth to any club he plays for .It remains to be seen if Pep Guardiola moves to lure Mane to Allianz Arena as he targets the Champions League in the next campaign, or whether or not he'll target more expensive options like Antoine Griezmann.
