Arsenal will get a second chance to sign Julian Draxler with the Schalke 04 star ready to request a move to the Premier League this summer, according to Sky Sports Germany.
Arsene Wenger was strongly linked with a move for the winger in the January transfer window of 2014, to the point that he reportedly sent an Arsenal delegation to Germany to broker what would have been a huge transfer.
Those reports were later confirmed to be false, however, it appears that the Gunners did at least attempt to take the then-20-year-old away from the Veltins Arena.

Draxler confirmed last June: "In January, there was the offer of Arsenal, but I decided to stay.
I will do the same this summer. I want to play one year more in Schalke."
That last comment is telling as that "one year more" in Schalke has now past and the Germany international is ready to move on from the Bundesliga.

Arsenal are expected to renew their interest in Draxler but will probably wait for confirmation from the player's representatives that they would not be wasting their time.
Forcing an exit
The report from Germany claims that the 21-year-old will do his best to seal a move by asking to leave. Schalke are ready to sell, but only for £30m, which comes close to meeting his release clause of £32.5m.
But while Draxler would have been a great signing for Arsenal back in January 2014, the left-wing space is now occupied by a certain Alexis Sanchez, who joined from Barcelona for £35m last summer.
The Alexis Sanchez problem
The Chile international lit up the Emirates with an incredible 24 goals in all competitions from the wide role, finishing the season just two behind the 26 Thierry Henry scored during his first season in north London.
Sanchez is expected to play a key role for the Gunners next season and Draxler would find it very difficult to get game time ahead of him. There is a chance then that the German youngster has missed his chance to play for Arsenal.
There is likely to be more interest in the player should Arsenal decline to renew their interest. Manchester United and City were both credited with an interest last year and have undoubtedly kept tabs on his development as well.
