2K have announced that WWE 2K16 will hit the shelves in late October and, at this year’s E3 event in Los Angeles, they have announced the first six names who will be included in the game.

2K haven’t announced anything else as of yet, in terms of gameplay changes and game modes but they have promised that this year’s game promises to include the largest roster in the franchise’s history.

Along with the current crop of WWE superstars, we should expect to see WCW legends, ECW legend as well as the current NXT stars involved in the game and will join the following six superstars.

Paige was available in WWE 2K15 as a DLC and was always going to be included. So far she is the only diva to be announced but 2K will continue to reveal the roster around SummerSlam and more superstars and divas will be announced.

Paige is taking charge of the diva’s division even though Nikki Bella is the Divas Champion, and deserves to be included in the game right away rather than another DLC role.

Not much of a surprise to see Rollins one of the first names announced for WWE 2K16, the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion defends his title against Brock Lesnar at Battleground.

He’s enjoyed a quick, solid rise to the top of the WWE since capturing the Money in the Bank briefcase last year. He was involved in the game last year, but still donned The Shield attire so this will be first official outing for Seth Rollins as a singles competitor.

Joining Seth Rollins in WWE 2K16 is his former partner and current rival, Dean Ambrose. He too is enjoying a great stint in the main event picture alongside Seth Rollins so it’s no surprise to see him included as one of the first six names announced.

He came up short against Rollins at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view in the ladder match and he’ll surely be a popular star in the video game with his new attire, move-set and theme music.

He may be out of in-ring action right now, but there’s no way Daniel Bryan wasn’t going to be involved. He’s so popular amongst the WWE Universe that he was definitely going to be one of the first names announced.

We don’t know when he’ll return to in-ring action, but his popularity will ensure he’s one of the most used characters in the game.

Bad News Barrett is another one of the first names announced, he’s enjoyed a successful year up until the point he became the King of the Ring.

Judging by the posters that have been released, Barrett will be going by the Bad News gimmick in WWE 2K16 and not the current King Barrett gimmick.

The first NXT superstar announced this year is none other than Finn Bálor which was widely expected but still brings a sense of excitement to the video game.

Bálor wasn’t involved last year, instead fans could download a created version from community creations but it will be great to see the demon Bálor in WWE 2K16 along with many other NXT stars that were introduced to the game last year.

Another glimpse

That’s not all, a picture taken at the E3 events shows a rumoured leaked screenshot of the video game, which you can see by clicking here. It shows that ECW stars as well as WWE legends will be featured.

The picture shows more characters which will be available, which include Divas Champion Nikki Bella along with two of NXT’s top divas in Bayley and current NXT Women’s Champion, Sasha Banks. Expect the remaining two of the four horsewomen, Charlotte and Becky Lynch, to also be involved, whilst Emma should also be in the game once more.

John Cena and Roman Reigns also look to be involved which you can see in the screenshot, and they are rumoured to be joined by two top NXT stars in Hideo Itami, and current NXT Champion Kevin Owens.

The ratings aren’t available just yet, but based on the screenshot it looks as if both Ambrose and Rollins shares the same rating of 93.
