Chelsea are considering a £15 million bid for highly-rated Augsburg defender Abdul Baba Rahman after Jose Mourinho identified the Ghana international as a possible replacement for Filipe Luis at Stamford Bridge.
The Daily Mirror reports that the 20-year-old has attracted admiring glances from the Portuguese coach following an impressive 2014/15 campaign in the Bundesliga, where he helped Markus Weinzierl's side secure a fifth place finish to clinch a first-ever European slot.
Baba Rahman has established himself as a key figure at the SGL arena and that's why his valuation is already so punchy despite his tender years, with additional interest from Serie 'A' champions Juventus expected to drive up the asking price even further.

With 11 caps for his country the talented left-back would welcome the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of national hero Michael Essien by signing for the Blues, but his desire for regular first-team football does raise some doubts about a deal being agreed as Mourinho will not be able to offer any guarantees of a place in his team.
Luis started just nine Premier League games for the newly crowned champions following a £16 million switch from Atletico Madrid last summer after failing to dislodge Cesar Azpilicueta from his position on the left side of Chelsea's defence.

That's the reason why the Brazil international is being linked with a swift departure from west London, with Diego Simeone keen to be reunited with his former full-back at the Vicente Calderon.
Luis' exit could pave way for Baba Rahman's prospective arrival, although he might have to settle for a loan spell away from Stamford Bridge next season, just like compatriot Christian Atsu - another bright young prospect from Africa - who has been farmed out to Vitesse Arnhem and Everton in each of the past two campaigns.
Atsu joined from FC Porto in the summer of 2013, but has been forced to wait patiently for his chance in the senior team to show exactly what he can do. If Baba Rahman doesn't want to follow the same route then he might be better off staying put next term and enjoy the experience of playing Europa League football with Augsburg.
