Dirk De Vriese, the agent of Manchester United winger Adnan Januzaj, has revealed his star client will stay at Old Trafford next season despite recent speculation over the youngster's future.
De Vriese, speaking exclusively to Sport Witness, admits there are plenty of clubs interested in signing the Belgium international - on both permanent and loan deals - but insists he feels content with his current employers.
Furthermore, De Vriese claims that Manchester United want to keep Januzaj, who he has tipped to become a "legend" at Old Trafford.
Asked whether Januzaj was set for a loan move to Real Sociedad - spurious rumours on Twitter claimed the 20-year-old had met with former United manager David Moyes in Marbella last month - De Vriese categorically denied his client was on the verge of leaving the Red Devils.
"This is total nonsense," he stated. "Adnan is feeling good at Manchester United and they don't want him to leave the club, he is considered still as their biggest talent since many years. There was a lot of top teams asking to buy him and a lot of sub-top teams to loan him but he will stay at Manchester United to become a legend in the club."
Januzaj must improve after disappointing season
In order to become a Manchester United legend, Januzaj must first cement a regular place in Louis van Gaal's first team and then produce much better performances than he managed over the course of the 2014-15 campaign.
The Belgian made 18 Premier League appearances last term, failing to score a goal or register a single assist in the process.
Big things were expected of Januzaj after his excellent debut campaign under the aforementioned Moyes - he scored four goals and contributed three assists in 27 appearances during the 2013-14 season - and particularly after he was handed the club's iconic No. 11 shirt, vacated by the legendary Ryan Giggs.
But he failed to impress Van Gaal who only handed the technically-gifted winger seven Premier League appearances last season.
Januzaj can become a key player - but a legend?
Januzaj was expected to leave United on loan for the second half of the campaign but Van Gaal told the Red Devils' official website, last December, he was going nowhere.
The veteran Dutch coach handed Januzaj a few more opportunities to shine after the New Year, but was disappointed to see a young player with so much ability consistently making the wrong decisions on the pitch.
This, however, can be put down to a lack of confidence. Januzaj possesses the ability to become a key player at Manchester United and it should be deemed as a failure on Van Gaal's part if this doesn't happen.
But a Manchester United legend? That might prove to be a little too optimistic.
