Memphis Depay set tongues wagging earlier this week by posting a photo of himself alongside Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba - and the Dutch winger has now uploaded a picture to Instagram of himself with another Manchester United target: this time the Everton and Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku.
It was revealed by The Sun on Thursday that United were considering making a move for Lukaku after missing out on Atletico Madrid striker Mario Mandzukic, who is poised to complete a move to Champions League runners-up Juventus.
That Depay uploaded the photo of himself alongside Lukaku - who, incidentally, also posted the photo to his own Instagram account - on the same day as the transfer rumour has excited some Manchester United supporters.

“Bring him to Manchester United”, “Get him to Man U” and “Keep taking pics with soon to be United players!” were just some of the many messages left on Instagram for the Red Devils’ first - and, to date, only - summer signing.
“Known this guy since we were 12” Depay wrote, “I love this guy!”

Man Utd unlikely to sign Lukaku
It seems Depay would be more than happy if his old pal joined the Red Devils this summer, but it’s unlikely that Lukaku will be the striker Manchester United eventually attempt to sign as a replacement for Radamel Falcao.
The 22-year-old, who Jose Mourinho allowed to leave Chelsea on a permanent deal last summer, is a fairly inconsistent performer - although he has a fair amount of time ahead of him to develop before reaching his peak years.
Lukaku has scored 36 goals in 81 appearances for the Toffees - by no means a poor return - and has netted a less impressive eight goals in 37 matches for his country.
Manchester United appear to have a stronger interest in Tottenham’s Harry Kane, who scored 31 goals last season alone, with the England international admitting last night the interest from the Red Devils was “flattering”.
Kane, however, stated that he was more than happy with Spurs - and there’s little chance of Daniel Levy selling the club’s prized asset unless United submit a ridiculous offer.
United would also need to pay an over-inflated price to prise Lukaku away from Goodison Park. Everton paid a club-record £28 million fee for the former Anderlecht starlet last summer, and there’s no chance of him being allowed to leave the Merseyside outfit for a lower fee than that.
