5 - Rob Van Dam cashes in on John Cena
WrestleMania 22 was just the second time the Money in the Bank contract match took place and it saw the Human Highlight Reel Rob Van Dam walk out victorious. Van Dam then decided that he wasn't the kind of superstar that was going to sneak up on the champion, he wanted a scheduled match.
The ECW brand had returned to WWE and RVD was a shining light in it's reformation. This lead RVD to become the first and only superstar so far in WWE history to give the champion prior notice of the match and schedule it.
ECW One Night Stand 2006 saw RVD vs John Cena for the WWE Championship, RVD was the favourite heading into the match as the crowd were firmly behind Mr Monday Night. The hostile audience didn't like Cena and made this apparent throughout, but it was someone who disliked Cena a little more than the audience that cost him his championship.
Edge ran to the ring in a motorcycle helmet and hit Cena with a thunderous spear through a table after the referee had been taken out, Van Dam then covered Cena and Paul Heyman ran out to make the three count himself to crown Van Dam champion.
Van Dam is still the only superstar to give the champion prior notice of the match and still walk out with the title. He is also the only triple crown champion having won the WWE, ECW and TNA world championships.
