A player’s father hinting that he’s to leave Arsene Wenger’s first-team

Joel Campbell looks highly likely to be leaving Arsenal once more this summer, be it on loan or via a permanent transfer, and his father’s most recent comments look to have confirmed the idea that he won’t be with the Gunners next season. Speaking about the speculation suggesting his son is to switch to Benfica on loan, Campbell Senior played up the idea that a temporary spell away could improve his development, thus giving him a better shot at breaking into Wenger’s first-team. The Costa Rican forward had a disappointing loan spell with Villarreal last season, but will be looking to make amends if he’s not sold in the coming weeks. Meanwhile reports from Germany say Arsenal are to make a bid of around £28m for Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and the Bundesliga side could be ready to sell. The sum, which translates to €40m is a hefty price to pay, but Wenger seems serious about improving his attacking line.
