Manchester United are set to make a bid of €40 million+ for the services of Atletico Madrid midfielder Arda Turan after making contact with the player, according to Italian publication La Gazzetta Dello Sport.
The report claims that the Red Devils are set to press ahead with a move for the playmaker after his agent recently confirmed the player's desire to complete a move to the Premier League in the upcoming transfer window.
Turan, of course, has enjoyed a great deal of success under the guidance of Diego Simeone in the Spanish capital in recent years, but it now appears that he's ready to leave the club in the immediate future.

And that may well lead him to Manchester United, who are clearly in need of improvement ahead of the 2015/16 campaign.
Despite already having a number of creative players at his disposal, it appears that Red Devils chief Louis van Gaal wants to bring the Turkish captain to the club, as he looks for more creativity in his side ahead of the new season.

Van Gaal, of course, has already landed talented Dutchman Memphis Depay from PSV, but it appears that the Reds hierarchy could continue to splash the cash over the course of the summer transfer window.
Ultimately, Manchester United will be desperate to improve after securing a fourth place finish in the Premier League last term, while they will also be hoping to make an impact on the European scene. There's no doubt about it, the Red Devils will be determined to maintain a title challenge throughout the course of the campaign and overhaul Jose Mourinho and Co. at Chelsea.
But do Manchester United really need to sign Turan? Don't get me wrong, the Atletico forward is a wonderful player, who would no doubt prove a fine coup for any side in England's elite division, but Van Gaal must bring a balance to his side sooner rather than later.
In Juan Mata, Adnan Januzaj, Angel di Maria, Ander Herrera and Co., the Red Devils already have a number of creative players at their disposal, so perhaps the club should look elsewhere in the market.
At the end of the day, after the departure of Radamel Falcao, United are clearly in need of an out-and-out striker, while they could also do with improving in the defensive department of the pitch. Turan would be a luxury, but at such a high price, United officials must be careful as they go about adding to the squad.
