It is no secret that WWE have been in favour of bringing back previous ideas and superstars recently and the announcement of the Tough Enough return certainly went down well.
The WWE Universe had a lot to be excited about in relation to the show, which airs live tonight on the exclusive WWE Network.
Not only will one man and one woman be crowned out of the 13 finalists and be offered a one-year WWE contract worth $250,000, but followers of WWE will also see several familiar faces during each episode of the show.
WWE great Chris Jericho will be the host of the newly brought-back show whilst current WWE Diva Paige will join WWE superstar Daniel Bryan and professional wrestling legend Hulk Hogan on the expert judging panel.
As if these names and the concept did not make the show exciting enough already, the prospective wrestlers will be trained by none other than WWE icons; Booker T, Billy Gunn and Lita throughout the series.
Along the way the contestants will also interact with the biggest names in WWE at present which include WWE Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Vince McMahon, his daughter and Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon and her husband and Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events and Creative; Triple H while the current 'face of WWE' John Cena will also be involved in the programme.
During a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Tough Enough judge and professional wrestling legend Hulk Hogan gave his views on the show making a comeback.
He said: "If you would have told me ten years ago that this was an avenue to make it into this business, I would have said you were nuts...but the Performance Center has turned out some of our top stars; it's proven that this formula works, so I'm excited that I've been re-educated to find the next WWE Superstar or Diva."
After being whittled down to the final 13 finalists after the 40-strong short list which came about from over 11,000 submission videos, these men and women will doubtlessly be put through their paces in a number of gruelling ways in order to prove they have what it takes to compete with the likes of WWE superstars who have trained for years to be where there are today.
When asked what it will take for the successful male and female Tough Enough contestant, Hogan explained:
"The first thing I feel is their energy; I can shake somebody's hand and make eye contact with them and tell what kind of energy they have. And we'll start from there...it's a situation where we're looking for the best of the best. I'm looking for someone who lives it, breathes it and is obsessed with it."
Whoever proves themselves to be worthy as a WWE superstar or Diva on the top-level roster within professional wrestling will undoubtedly have a huge few weeks ahead of them as the WWE Universe will be able to see who exactly is tough enough.
