After hearing the barrage of reports coming out of the WWE these past few weeks you will have been bracing yourselves for one of the most popular wrestlers on the roster to be departing the company in the not to distant future.

Following in the footsteps of the likes of CM Punk, Alberto Del Rio and Rey Mysterio (albeit in less controversial circumstances) it had looked like Dolph Ziggler would be the next high profile name to quit the business citing frustration at their position in the company.

U-turn

Now, though, an explosive new report from PWInsider claims that Ziggler has performed a truly spectacular u-turn.

The publication has revealed that the WWE have actually managed to re-sign Dolph Ziggler to a new contract with the Superstar apparently having already put pen to paper on the deal.

At time of writing there are limited details as to exactly when the deal was signed but, considering the recent speculation it will come as a major surprise to many.

Indeed, only yesterday there were reports that the likes of Lucha Underground, New Japan Pro Wrestling and TNA Wrestling were preparing big money offers to entice Ziggler to their respective promotions. And the thinking was Zigger was ready to take one of them up on it.

Much of Ziggler's motivation to leave the WWE was supposedly down to his lack of a push by the company despite his constant good work and popularity. You would assume with this reported new deal in place that the WWE hierarchy must have given him some assurances that a bigger role is in the offing.

Future role

There have been signs of that in the past couple of weeks. Although he has been feuding with an absent Rusev in the ring, Ziggler has been given a leading role in new WWE TV show 'Swerved.'

The WWE are yet to officialy comment on any new deal for Dolph Ziggler but that won't dampen fan excitement at the prospect of hearing the popular wrestler is here to stay.

Only time will tell if a new contract proves to be beneficial for both sides but one thing is for certain, neither the WWE or Dolph Ziggler would have agreed to it had they not had some exciting plans ahead.
