America made history this week as a law was passed to legalize same sex marriage in all 50 states and striking a great blow for gay pride.
The move has been welcomed by the world and although there will always be critics of it, it has helped American society move towards equality.
Whilst most people in America were happy to hear the news, some were surely unhappy with the new law and one man in particular saw it in the most bizarre way imaginable.
That man was Josh Robinson - cornerback for the Minnesota Vikings who took to Twitter to voice his strange opinions.
Robinson seemingly compared the legalisation of same sex marriage and the whole idea of homosexuality to paedophilia.
Robinson - whose tweets are protected from view by the general public has made the outlandish idea without making a direct comparison.
"Love is love? So what will we say when the 30yr old loves YOUR 10 year old. When the dad loves HIS 6 year old? It's different?? Yea okay!" - Robinson's controversial tweet
Naturally, the opinion isn't what you would really expect an NFL star to share on Twitter but Robinson took steps to rationalise his tweet.
"In the end EVERYONE has a right to believe what they want to believe,"
Whilst Robinson may be right about people's right to their opinion, when you're an NFL player, it may be best to heavily consider what you put on Twitter.
Robinson's messages may have been topical but they have certainly stressed an unpopular opinion and has now meant that he is the second Vikings player to have an opinion on same sex marriage made public.
Of course we can all remember when newly returning Vikings runningback Adrian Peterson made his "I'm not with that" comment on same sex marriage.
Peterson's comments from back in 2013 weren't received well and it appears likely that Robinson's will receive the same reaction.
