Chelsea are considering a surprise move for Aleksandar Mitrovic, the Anderlecht striker that has also attracted interest from Premier League rivals Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool.
According to the Daily Mail, Blues boss Jose Mourinho is weighing up an offer for the £15 million-rated talisman, who netted an impressive 23 goals for the Belgian outfit last season.
Mitrovic is keen to join a club that can offer him the chance to play Champions League football and is reportedly seeking wages around the £60,000-a-week mark.
The Serbia international would probably find regular first-team action difficult to come by at Stamford Bridge, given the fine form of first-choice frontman Diego Costa following his £32 million switch from Atletico Madrid last summer.
However, with Arsene Wenger, Louis van Gaal and indeed Brendan Rodgers all holding the same reservations about whether or not Mitrovic would improve their respective squads next season, Chelsea could end up being the player's most attractive option.
Swansea City and Newcastle United - under the new stewardship of Steve McLaren - are both believed to have had preliminary offers turned down for the 20-year-old as Anderlecht hold out for a suitor to meet their pretty reasonable asking price for a proven goalscorer.
Chelsea have already agreed a deal in principle to take Radamel Falcao on loan for the 2015/16 campaign, but could move for Mitrovic as well if they decide to cash-in on Loic Remy, who is rumoured to be unhappy with the amount of football he's played in west London.
